Conference Introduction

Brain mapping serves as the cornerstone for understanding brain structure and function and provides critical support for unraveling the mysteries of the brain. Mesoscopic whole-brain atlases can accurately delineate neuronal cell types, their spatial distribution and the organizational rules of neural circuits. They are of great significance for identifying therapeutic targets for brain disorders, advancing clinical diagnosis and treatment, and promoting the development of brain-inspired artificial intelligence technologies.

The International Consortium for Primate Brain Mapping (ICPBM) was launched in September 2025, accompanied by the official release of its white paper. This marks the formal initiation of the international major scientific program on primate brain mapping by the global scientific community and the commencement of systematic global collaboration in primate brain mapping research.

As the executing organization of the international major scientific program on primate brain mapping, the ICPBM now brings together over 120 members from 27 countries and regions across the globe. These researchers are affiliated with more than 70 world-leading universities and research institutions, The consortium also incorporates multiple international synchrotron radiation facilities, such as SPring-8 in Japan, SLRI in Thailand, and SESAME in Jordan, demonstrating its strengths in integrating interdisciplinary core technologies and key infrastructure platforms. Boasting robust international collaboration potential in research resources and talent composition, the ICPBM has laid a solid foundation of talent and resources for advancing the implementation of the major scientific program on brain mapping.

The 2026 International Forum on Brain Mapping focuses on cutting-edge research achievements and state-of-the-art technologies in the field of brain mapping worldwide, inviting experts at home and abroad to share research progress and exchange ideas. Centering on four major themes — Cellular Atlases, Connectome, Interactome  and Emerging Technologies for Brain Mapping — the conference adopts multiple communication formats including thematic seminars and poster sessions. It strives to further strengthen the International Consortium for Primate Brain Mapping, build an open and collaborative international platform, and boost exchanges and cooperation within the brain mapping community. We sincerely invite researchers engaged in brain mapping, neuroscience and related interdisciplinary fields at home and abroad to participate and communicate, so as to jointly drive the advancement of relevant research.
